Tourism excellence in Leeds
Leeds Metropolitan University is to be the country’s first Centre of Excellence for Tourism.
The Institute of Travel and Tourism-endorsed status conferred on the university will mean it is seen as a high-profile place at which to study, research and consult on travel and tourism.
Leeds earnt the accolade after industry veterans assessed its curriculum, staff research, student employability and industry partnerships.
Vice chancellor of Leeds Metropolitan professor Susan Price said: “Over the last 17 years, Leeds Metropolitan has been at the forefront of many initiatives and developments within tourism education.
“With the conferment of Centre of Excellence status, Leeds Met will continue to be an ambassador for best practice in tourism education not only in the UK but throughout the world.â€
