Tourism investment opportunities in Namibia
The following is a message from the Namibian Community Based Tourism Association…
Dear Tourism Industry Member and Interested Parties, this notice provides background information and the programme for soliciting interested parties for exciting new tourism development opportunities in selected wildlife areas of Northern Namibia. Should you be interested and want us to keep you informed, please contact us at the details given below.
Background
The remote rural areas of Namibia contain some of the most spectacular scenery and wildlife viewing in Southern Africa, as well as a diversity intriguing cultures. Over 20 years of concerted effort by communities, government, NGO’s and tourism operators, has seen conservation success stories evolve in these areas which many believe are unprecedented in Africa. Communities within these remote areas have formed conservancies, and are now seeking private sector partners to unlock their unique tourism potentials.
The Namibian Community Based Tourism Association (NACOBTA) has been mandated by government departments, non-government organisations and conservancies to facilitate the procurement of private sector partners for rural communities in Namibia.
A Joint Venture (JV) unit was created within NACOBTA to lead this task. The JV unit has undertaken market research to identify conservancies that have rich tourism potential. By unlocking this potential, revenue will be generated for continued conservation activities and community development.
The programme is managed by NACOBTA’s JV unit and WWF in Namibia. Contact details for the JV unit are given below:
Ms Isabella //Hauses, NACOBTA JV UNIT, 3 Weber Street, Windhoek West, PO Box 86099, WINDHOEK, Namibia. Tel +264 61 223424 / 221918; Fax +294 61 222647. E-mail: [email protected]. Website: www.nacobta.co.na
