Tourist hit by New York cab to sue city for millions
A British tourist who was forced to have her leg amputated after New York City cab mounted the pavement and hit her, is suing the city for $27million.
Sian Green, 23, had her left leg amputated after the crash outside Rockefeller Center on August 20 but was told by prosecutors last month that there wasn’t enough evidence to charge cab driver Faysal Himon with any crime.
Her family have now filed a $27.5 million claim against the city, claiming the driver shouldn’t have been driving, reports the Daily Mail.
They claim the driver’s hack licence should have been suspended before the accident because he had prior driving violations.
The city Taxi and Limousine Commission has cited a now-fixed computer problem for the error.
Himon maintains that the accident wasn’t his fault and that he lost control after a cyclist slammed the hood of his cab.
