Tourist killed in Caribbean shark attack
An Italian tourist has been killed in a shark attack on a Caribbean island. Antonio Roseto Degli Abruzzi, 56, died while swimming in a popular-snorkelling area off the island of San Andres, Colombia.
It was the first shark attack recorded in San Andres. It is thought to have been a tiger shark, which is the second most deadly species after the great white.
It has left local people and tourism businesses in shock. “There are diving programs with professionals in which sharks pass nearby, but nothing has ever happened before,” a local official said.
