Tourist train to showcase little known North Korea destinations
Foreign tourists will get a glimpse of many parts of North Korea previously off-limits during a new rail tour in October.
Tour operator Koryo Tours will debut a 10-night train tour departing from capital Pyongyang on October 2.
The cross-country itinerary covers hundreds of miles, visiting Mount Myohyang and the little known cities of Hamhung and Chongjin in the east.
The journey will also include stops at "as-yet-undiscovered cities, such as Sinpho and Kimchaek, and passing by isolated beaches," according to a Koryo Tours statement.
The train uses old North Korean railway carriages from the 1970s, the tour company said, and the tour is priced at $3,172.
