A gold member of Green Tourism Business Scheme, Gleneagles Managing director since 1987 and Visit Scotland’s chairman for the last seven years, Mr Lederer is in a powerful position to advance the green cause.
Mr Lederer’s vision for the future of tourism sees more tourists coming from domestic and regional markets and hoteliers adopting environmental measures for their money-conserving features as much as their environmental attributes.
Gleneagles own sustainability initiatives include the following:
“Carbon Neutral by 2010†policy with biomass boilers, wind turbines, energy saving measures, water consumption surveys and environmental building management.
“Zero Waste to Landfill by 2010†policy including recycling, reuse, and cmposting
“Retain and procure suppliers with good Environmental Management Systems by 2010†– suppliers environmental auditing. And a tree-donation and planting policy.
