TQ3 expands UK operations with aquisition

TQ3 Travel Solutions EMEA has bought Phoenix Travel.

TQ3 director of marketing EMEA, Melanie Garrett, told TravelMole that the acquisition of the London-based travel management company will enable TQ3 to almost double its business in the UK.

She said: “Pheonix had many of the clients in the UK that we have in Germany, so it made sense for us to buy them. Now we manage travel for companies like Deutsche Bank in the UK and Germany”.

Pheonix Travel has 200 staff in 16 UK offices, and an annual turnover of around 250 million euros. The Pheonix name will be scrapped from early next year, but its offices will continue to operate from The City of London, rather than moving to TQ3’s offices in Harlow.

Most of TQ3’s UK clients are managed by Britannic Travel, which is a licensee of the firm, and operates under the TQ3 UK brand in the business travel sector.

TQ3 is headquartered in Bremen, Germany and is half-owned by TUI AG, and half by Maritz Inc, a travel management and meetings and incentives company in the US.
