Travel advisory against Fiji hopefully not punishment
Deposed Leader of the opposition in Fiji Mick Beddoes told Fiji Broadcasting that travel advisories now in place by neighbouring countries are logical only if it’s for the securities of the people and not to punish Fiji.
Beddoes spoke to Radio Fiji News regarding the state of Tourism in the country after the December 5, coup.
He said it is imperative for the Interim Government to come down from its high horse and start dialogue with those two countries so that the travel advisories are withdrawn and have tourist come back to the country.
Beddoes said Fiji cannot ignore the long relationship between Australia and New Zealand whose solders fought side by side during the First World War, the second, the Malayan campaign and other theaters of war.
The Interim Government should be reminded that trading with other countries depend on the desire of the people and not the government and he is definite no matter what the Interim government think of Australia and New Zealand the people will always trade with them.
He has appealed to the Interim government to start dialogue with Australia and New Zealand to get the tourist back and have our people go back to work in the tourism industry especially now that Christmas is round the corner.
