Travel costing more
Travel prices increased considerably in April, according to the Travel Industry Association of America.
Their Travel Price Index (TPI) rose 1.1% from the previous month and 5.8% from a year ago.
The Travel Price Index measures the seasonally unadjusted inflation rate of the cost of travel away from home in the US.
Spiraling gasoline prices played a major role, said the association.
Lodging prices fell from the previous month but were up overall by 5.4% over a year ago.
Airlines were also up, 3.6% from the previous month.
