Travel Counsellors claims record-breaking January
Travel Counsellors has announced a record month of sales, with the value of its holiday bookings topping £48 million for the first time.
January included the company’s top-performing sales days since it was established in 1994, with the value of bookings exceeding the £3 million mark for the first time in the firm’s history on two consecutive Fridays.
This was followed by a bookings boost on the final day of the month when Travel Counsellors exceeded £3 million in sales for the third time, with eight out of its 10 best ever sales days in January.
The best day for Travel Counsellors was Friday January 20, which saw 1,402 holiday bookings at a combined value of £3.4 million.
The figures represent a 21% increase in UK sales and an 18% increase globally over the same period last year.
The US is the number one destination booked in 2017, knocking Spain off the top spot, with Italy, UAE and Greece also proving popular this year so far, said the firm.
Travel Counsellors CEO Steve Byrne said: "This is obviously really exciting news for the business and the industry as a whole, and is a promising sign that people are looking optimistically towards 2017.
"January saw a 16% uplift in UK customers booking holidays for the summer period, which highlights the pattern in travellers now planning further ahead too."
