Travel Guard to be sold to giant AIG

Travel Guard International, a leading travel insurance company announced Monday that it is being sold to insurance and financial services giant American International Group Inc.

Noel Group is selling Travel Guard and its global affiliates, which have more than 675 employees. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Travel Guard has relied on a network of more than 14,000 agents and nearly 500 travel suppliers in the United States, Canada, and Central and South America to sell its travel insurance.

John Noel will continue to serve as chief executive officer of Travel Guard.

New York City-based AIG is a major international insurance organization with operations in more than 130 countries.
