Travel still top priority in hard times
Travellers will cut back in other areas of spend to protect their travel budget according to a survey.
Travel website Cheapflights.co.uk asked 15,124 holidaymakers and found that travel is still a priority despite the recession.
More than 80% of those surveyed said they had cut back in other areas of expenditure in
order to protect their travel budget.
57% of those surveyed said they took more than one holiday this year while 66% voted for
winter sun as their preferred type of holiday.
"Even – or perhaps especially – when times are tough and wallets are being pinched, the preference is to squirrel away funds for a sunny getaway," said Hugo Burge, chief executive officer of Cheapflights.
