Industry shares suffered yet another bad day yesterday as London’s equity markets fell back once more.
The FTSE 100 index lost 0.2 per cent of its value to close at 4242.2, 9.9 points down, while the FTSE 250 fared even worse and dropped 31.1 points to close at 5610.3 – a decline of 0.6 per cent. Dealers were once again busy and traded 3.1 billion shares.
Once again airline shares had a poor day; British Airways fell back 3p to close at 178p, easyjet dropped 3p for a 233p finish, and Ryanair lost 6p to end the day at 449p.
Online retailers enjoyed different fortunes; while ebookers managed to add apenny to close at 584.5p, its rival lastminute.com dropped 11p for a closing price of 253p. First Choice Holidays lost a penny to close at 117p, and MyTravel had a horrendous day, losing 3.5p to close at 17p.
