Travelers report on bed bugs, nude resorts and hotel thefts

Sunday, 26 Oct, 2006 0

Such questions as how often travelers encounter bed bugs, how many choose to stay at nude resorts and how often overnight guests’ steal from hotels now have some tentative answers.

The first, bed bugs, is four percent; one in ten travelers has stayed at a nude resort; and a somewhat surprising number of 20% of travelers have stolen from hotels.

This information comes from TripAdvisor, which polled nearly 4,000 travelers to also find:

  • There’s a lot of germaphobic-ness these days, with 24% of travelers saying they won’t leave home without their own disinfectant and sheets/pillowcases.

  • Six percent of travelers were asked on a date or started a romantic relationship with perfect strangers while on an airline flight (up from six percent last year).

  • Four percent of travelers say they are more likely to do something illegal while away from home.

  • Twenty-six percent of travelers are likely to dress more provocatively while on vacation than they ever would at home.

  • An amazing 75% view a clean restroom as the most important factor in determining great airports.
