Traveling towards historic highs
A new US Department of Transportation study found a historic high figure. The implications: good future growth. That was the interpretation of the latest Transportation Services Index (TSI, according to Department of Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta. The TSI increased by one percent from November to December of 2003 to reach an all-time high peak of 118.5, officials said. TSI tracks changes from 1996, meaning that transportation services last December rose 18.5% from 1996. “If you look at the data, every time the TSI heats up, the economy follows,” said Mr Mineta.
