Travel+Leisure Art Auction Benefits Conservation in the World’s Deepest Gorge

NEW YORK, NY, August 18, 2008 — Maya Lin. April Gornik. Eric Boman. Manolo Blahnik. Laurie Simmons. Pat Steir. Fred Wilson. Sylvia Weinstock. These are among the 18 prominent artists, designers, and photographers who have been commissioned by Travel + Leisure magazine to create one-of-a-kind works for Project Globe: An Art Auction and Exhibition Benefiting Future Generations. A celebration of travel’s positive impact on the world, this new initiative from the editors of T+L will provide much-needed funding to Future Generations, a nonprofit organization devoted to conservation and community development. Project Globe 2008 kicks-off on August 18 with an online auction preview offering early-bidding opportunities at www.tlprojectglobe.com. On September 18, there will be a gala auction event held in partnership with PaceWildenstein and Christie’s at GlassHouses in The Chelsea Arts Tower, New York City.
