Travellers Resource Centre Opens
A creative resource centre for travellers opens in Puri, Orissa. The first of its kind in India, the idea is to “create a space for travellers to meet, learn about local cultures & issues and inspire people to travel responsibly†according to Claire Prest, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Grass Routes Pvt Ltd.
The ‘Grass Routes Travellers Lounge & Information Centre’ houses maps, travel information and magazines, a collection of relevant newspaper articles and journals, selected reference books and photographs. Travellers and locals alike are welcome to browse through the information and add to the growing collection.
Innovative day tours and short breaks are available from the same space. Choose from a number of exciting options including bicycle tours, overnight camping and cooking classes. There is also a safe water refilling station for travellers to refill their water bottles in a bid to minimise consumption of plastic.
Grass Routes is the first responsible travel company in Orissa and one of few in India to work in partnership with local communities. Tour itineraries and local activities are designed and operated with local community involvement. Not only does this help spread the benefits of tourism further, but ensures meaningful local interaction for travellers.
Grass Routes Travellers Lounge & Information Centre is located on CT Rd (between Honeybee Café & Peace Restaurant) Puri – 752002, Orissa, India.
