TravelMole event a sell-out
TravelMole Fast Conference Special: TravelMole’s inaugural event was a hotbed of industry debate and audience participation. The high calibre of panel members ensured a forthright and high-speed debate, which flitted between the topics of the future of GDSs in a deregulated environment to the future role of agents and the threat of no-frills carriers. Praise was given to debate moderator, Jeremy Skidmore, who ably directed questions from the audience and pushed the panel members on the more sensitive issues. The event was a sell-out, attended by 45 delegates from companies including British Airways, Deloitte and Touche, Europcar, flybe, Iberia, Cendant Travel Distribution Services, Lastminute.com, Opodo, Teletext Online and Virgin Atlantic Airways. Despite temperatures fluctuating between the tropical and arctic, due to an unreliable air conditioning system, the panel stayed cool under pressure and made articulate and shrewd remarks, making for thought-provoking debate. Keep an eye on the TravelMole Fast Conference webpage for details of future events. The next event is scheduled for Tuesday 11 May and will tackle the issue of sustainable tourism. Already confirmed on the panel is ResponsibleTravel.com co-founder and chief executive Justin Francis. Taking on the feedback from Tuesday’s event and owing to its success, we have outgrown the Thistle Bloomsbury, and will be moving the event elsewhere. Watch this space for further information.
