Travelodge: City staycation bookings more than double in 2021
More than twice as many Britons will take a ‘Citycation’ this year, according to research from hotel brand Travelodge.
As foreign trips have been on hold for many people, 61% are taking an urban staycation this year. .
On average, Britons will be taking three UK city breaks this year, with summer the busiest season.
In 2020, just 27% of British adults took a UK city break, it says.
They are spending on average £414 on their Citycation, which is up £17.08 compared to 2020. Collectively, they will spend £51 billion exploring UK cities this year, the 2021 Travelodge City Holiday Index says.
It says Bath is the top city break destination, followed by Aberdeen, London and Birmingham.
