Global distribution system services are to be provided by Galileo parent Travelport GDS to Expedia in Europe.
The move come as part of a diversification of GDS services by the online travel company in the region.
The agreement ”reinforces the commitment Expedia has made to a multi-GDS strategy to provide customers with an improved experience by presenting greater flight selection and more destination options”.
Expedia began flowing segments in January from select European points of sale to Travelport GDS.
Wes Peterson, Expedia’s vice president, EMEA transport & tour, said: “The connection with Travelport GDS is a step we have taken in Europe to diversify our GDS mix as we continue to expand in size and geographic reach.
“We are pleased to have access to the fares and inventory Travelport GDS will offer our customers in Europe.”
Travelport GDS chief commercial officer Kevin Mooney said: “This agreement demonstrates the value Expedia places on the strength of the Travelport GDS offering and we are delighted to be working so closely with one of the world’s leading online travel companies.”
