Travelscene Amex spotlight on NZ
The beauty, thrills and spills of New Zealand have been showcased to more than 500 participants in the 2006 Travelscene American Express Frontliners Conference in Auckland.
Reaction to the comprehensive update on products, services, and trends in the industry and the overview of regional and national promotions for New Zealand was extremely positive.
Travelscene Chief Executive Officer, Mike Thompson, reflected on the origins of the group in his Key Note Address, tracing the journey which has seen the organisation become Australia’s top agency group, and many of its members secure accolades for excellence.
“In many ways, the more things change, the more things stay the same,” he said.
“It’s been a long and interesting journey from 1980 when a group of travel agents got together to form the United Travel Agents Group. 2006 has been a fantastic year for Travelscene American Express, and the changes, while challenging, present some very exciting opportunities.”
“Travelscene has always been an organisation flexible enough to change with our environment to ensure not just our survival but also our prosperity. The year and years ahead will be no different.”
Among the speakers to address the delegates was generational expert, Peter Sheehan who delivered an insightful address on meeting and managing differing expectations across the generations, and, in particular, juggling the diverse behaviours of Builders and Baby Boomers with Generation Y.
