“Trendy Taipei 2025” turns Taiwan capital into Asia’s hottest music playground
Taipei is hitting a high note as an increasingly fashionable destination. The island currently runs Trendy Taipei 2025. This two-week festival running from August 25 to September 7 blends music, culture, and innovation across the city.
With over 150 live performances, 39 industry forums, and events spanning arenas, live houses, and public spaces, the festival positions Taipei as Asia’s newest hub for creative energy and cultural exchange.
This year, festival organizers are leaning into the “Concert Economy,” using music to drive tourism, citywide engagement, and consumer activity. “Big concerts this year are designed to create a Trendy Taipei Boom,” said Tsai Shih-ping, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs to local media.
Top acts from Taiwan, Japan, and Korea will headline the Taipei Arena Series from September 5 to 7, while Taipei Very Live brings over 50 performances across 22 live houses and music-themed restaurants, featuring rock, jazz, pop, and more.
Sandy Huang, chairperson of the Taipei Music Centre, emphasized the venue’s dual role as a promoter of pop music and a central hub for Taiwan’s music scene. The Taipei Music Expo (TMEX) and Jam Jam Asia, running August 28–31, are also presenting 70 performances, spotlighting both local and regional talent.
Trendy Taiwan positions the city as a hub for the global music industry. The Trendy Fusion Forum at Ambi Space One hosts international pop culture figures such as Sebastian Masuda, the pioneer of Japanese Kawaii culture, and K-pop strategist Cha Haley, who will share insights on trends, strategies, and industry innovation.
TMEX, Asia’s leading music industry expo, brings together representatives from 10 APAC countries and 60 exhibitors, including major festivals like Busan Rock Festival and Thailand’s Big Mountain Festival. A new Industry Matchmaking Day will facilitate collaborations between artists and industry professionals.
The festival expands beyond music to spotlight innovation and technology. StartSphere Taipei highlights startups from six countries, while the Taipei Film Academy focuses on “AI and the Future of Film,” inviting filmmakers to explore technology’s role in storytelling. Neighborhood activation throughout the city brings also music and cultural experiences closer to residents, giving everyone a chance to participate in the city’s rhythm.
With all these events, Taiwan uses more than ever soft power to assert its identity. And its prominent role as a creative destination with Taipei at the heart of its energy.
