Trio of cities in unique convention partnership
In a first-of-its-kind partnership, Visit Baltimore has teamed up with fellow tourism bureaus in Anaheim and San Antonio to offer special deals for consecutive meetings or conventions in all three cities.
Appropriately entitled ‘Synchronicities,’ the idea is to drive business to each partner city which do not compete against one another geographically.
"You get deals across the entire platform," said Visit Baltimore CEO Tom Noonan.
"So we at Baltimore beat Philadelphia or D.C., San Antonio beats Dallas or Austin, and Anaheim beats San Francisco and San Diego," Noonan said.
Noonan has already seen positive results for the new three-way partnership.
Baltimore secured the 2015 convention business of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events and in turn worked with the association to confirm bookings for its 2016 and 2017 conferences in Anaheim and San Antonio.
"They’re also doing that for their bookings to help Baltimore get business we’ve never had before," Noonan explained.
The partnership will also target hotel chains with properties in each city to pitch multi-year contracts for groups which prefer staying with a specific brand.
