TripAdvisor says it is first to provide complete airline ticket data

In what it calls a first, TripAdvisor Flights says it has become the in-flight search engine to display free information in initial search results.

“Now, when travellers run a flight search on TripAdvisor Flights, the site automatically displays the cost of their flight including the cost of one checked bag at the top of the results page,” says the company.

“TripAdvisor’s Fees Estimator also helps travellers understand the complete cost of a flight upfront, allowing them to include airline fees for checked baggage, in-flight entertainment and onboard meals and drinks, in their flight search results,” according to the company.

TripAdvisor has also added airline ratings on TripAdvisor Flights, the site’s flight meta-search engine.

“The new feature allows travelers to receive feedback on airline experiences from other fliers and provide their own airline ratings, while searching for flight options and airfares on TripAdvisor,” the company says.

Bryan Saltzburg, general manager of TripAdvisor Flights, said travelers will now be able to get useful feedback on how airlines stack up against each other in terms of fees, value for the money, service, punctuality, baggage handling and a number of other.

TripAdvisor Flights now features eight airline rating categories covering various aspects of the flight experience that can be rated by travelers on a scale of one to five in categories that include check-in experience and baggage handling, among others.
