Trump Hotels unveils new American Idea brand

Saturday, 07 Jun, 2017 0

The Trump Organization is entering the mid-market space with a new brand called American Idea.

Although there is no association with Trump senior, the theme is inspired by Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign.

American Idea will start with three hotels in Cleveland, Clarksdale and Greenville in Mississippi with a definite nod to the ideals of small town America.

Each hotel will be ‘specific to the local area, steeped in some American heritage,’ said Trump Hotels CEO Eric Danziger.

Donald Trump Jr. said the idea was born after following his father on the campaign trail around the country.

"We saw so many places and towns and so many stories," he said.

The first three hotels will open in about eight months after undergoing conversions.

The hotels are owned by Chawla Hotels Inc.

Trump Hotels’ other upcoming brand, the four-star Scion, will also debut in Mississippi.

The news has stoked up further accusations of conflicts of interest for Trump Senior.

"They’re cashing in on the red states. I’m not surprised that the Trump family would look to opportunities to commercially exploit his political success," said Kathleen Clark, a government ethics expert.

Danziger dismissed that, saying the new brand ‘has nothing to do with politics.’
