TRX sets record sales – $35b travel sales projected
TRX, the world’s largest travel process outsourcing company, had a record-breaking second quarter and is on track to do 93 million travel transactions worth $35 billion in air sales this year, according to CEO Trip Davis.
He told TravelMole the move was the result of a “robust travel industry recovery in both corporate and leisure travel.”
He said the number of bookings on RESX, the company’s on-line corporate booking tool, was 444,000, or an increase of 79% over the past year.
The company’s Correx, or pre-ticketing engine, processed over 13 million travel reservations in the first quarter for a 34% increase over the prior year.
TRX focuses exclusively on the travel industry. With clients that include Expedia, American Airlines and American Express, the company processes over 10% of the global airline tickets sold.
Mr Davis said that in addition to a conversion to on-line, another trend is increasing consolidation.
“In four years, we see the top 15 sellers of travel accounting for 75% of global travel,” he said.
He also sees more direct selling by suppliers.
“An airline might have sold 20% of its volume via its own channels now might want to see that grow to 50%,” he said.
Mr Davis recently announced the company had enrolled over 50 travel management companies in its RESX distributor program just one year after its launch.
