Monday, 01 Dec, 2015 0
Even when traveling home for the holidays to visit loved ones, some people just cannot bear to be parted from their beloved firearms.

During Thanksgiving week between November 20 – 26, airport security checks found 42 guns in carry-on bags at the nation’s airports.

Of these, 30 were loaded and 11 had a round chambered, the Transportation Security Administration said in its TSA Week in Review blog post.

Other prohibited items discovered in carry-on bags during the holiday period included a flare gun, firecrackers, loose ammunition and numerous knives.

The number of weapons intercepted last week is generally in keeping with the TSA’s full-year data for 2014, when 2,212 guns were seized at an average of six firearms per day.
