TSA finds giant 20-pound live lobster in checked bag
Nowadays, loaded handguns, knives and perhaps the occasional inert hand grenade don’t seem to faze TSA agents at the nation’s airports, but the latest find at Boston Airport has raised a few eyebrows.
Agents discovered a huge, live lobster weighing more than 20 pounds inside a checked bag at the airport.
Measuring the size of a small child, TSA spokesman Michael McCarthy said the crustacean was the largest he had ever seen.
McCarthy reiterated the little known fact that the TSA permits lobsters to be taken through security if they are in ‘clear, plastic, spill-proof containers.’
"The lobster was screened and allowed to continue on its way," he said.
"It’s actually fairly common in the New England region," McCarthy told the Boston Globe.
