TTA hires ex-ABTA head of PR to raise consumer profile
ABTA’s former head of corporate affairs Keith Betton has been contracted by the non-ABTA Travel Trust Association to help raise its consumer profile.
Betton is to advice the TTA on a consultancy basis as the organisation seeks to explain to travellers about its financial protection arrangements.
TTA director Todd Carpenter said: “This is a major step for us, and we feel the time is right to increase our profile.
“There are issues that TTA should speak out about on behalf of its members, and at the same time we want travellers to realise the benefits that TTA protection offers.
“I am delighted that Keith Betton has joined the team as for years he has been the familiar face that consumer journalists have turned to for advice. He will help us to realise our potential and his experience in crisis management will also be of immense value to our members.”
Betton said: “For me, having a consumer focus is vital. TTA now offers the best financial protection that consumers could ask for including automatic cover in the case of fraud, and that is really important for holidaymakers. Travel is always in the news, and the TTA needs to be part of that story.”
