TUI extends suspension of Rhodes holidays
TUI has extended the halt on Rhodes holidays until mid-August.
All holidays are suspended until at least August 11, it said., while all flights are currently suspended until Friday.
The holiday company offers numerous hotel options for Rhodes holidays in the southeast of the island, which is the worst affected by wildfires.
It has already flown five repatriation flights.
“Our teams in Rhodes have been working tirelessly to support customers impacted by the wildfires,” it said.
“We’ll be in touch with customers directly if their hotels have been impacted.”
Jet2 flew nine flights from Rhodes yesterday.
It had cancelled all inbound flights and Rhodes holidays until the beginning of next week.
It comes as the UK updated its travel advisory.
“Wildfires are highly dangerous and unpredictable,” it says.
“If you are due to travel to an area that might be affected by wildfires, contact your travel operator or accommodation provider before you travel.”
Evacuations have been taking place in Evia and Corfu.
The holiday island of Crete has been put on alert amid baking temperatures above 40C.
Yesterday, two pilots died after a firefighting plane crashed in Evia.
