Tunisia bouncing back
UK visitors to Tunisia more than doubled last month compared to July 2011.
The country welcomed 43,071 British visitors in July this year, compared to 28,578 last July and even beating July 2010’s record of 40,167.
Figures for January to July 2012 were 53.8% higher than the same period in 2011, when the country was suffering political turmoil and unrest.
Tourism officials said the latest figures demonstrate the resilience of the UK market, with British visitors heading to Tunisia to celebrate the country’s "new found freedom and optimism".
This year Tunisia has enjoyed a number of new airline routes, hotels, attractions and promotions from tour operators.
