Turbulence injures passengers on United flight
At least one passenger sustained injuries after a United Airlines flight encountered severe turbulence.
Others were treated for motion sickness, the airline said.
Initial reports suggest seven passengers were taken off and received medical attention but the airline hasn’t confirmed this.
It happened as the flight from Tel Aviv was close to Newark Liberty Airport prior to landing.
United Airlines Flight 85 was diverted to New York Stewart International Airport.
It ‘landed safely at New York Stewart Airport after the crew reported a passenger medical emergency,” the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The FAA is now investigating the incident.
“One passenger deplaned due to a medical incident,” United Airlines said.
Others were treated for motion sickness.
The plane then refueled and continued on to Newark where it landed safely.
