Turf’s up!” – the grass really is greener on Celebrity Solstice
The first-ever Lawn Club, complete with real growing grass, will be the next feature to take to the high seas when Celebrity Cruises launches the new Celebrity Solstice in December 2008.
Over a half-acre in size the Lawn Club is equivalent to more than eight tennis courts and is over three times larger than New York’s Rockefeller Center ice skating rink (668 sq. metres).
Dan Hanrahan, President and CEO of Celebrity Cruises said: The ship will present an industry first on the top deck of the ship: real, growing grass, set in a new country club environment known as ‘The Lawn Club.’ Offering bocce ball, croquet, real putting greens and spaces to enjoy a picnic, the new Lawn Club area of the ship will entice holidaymakers with a host of authentic experiences never before available at sea.â€
The Lawn Club will also include the new Hot Glass Show, another first in the industry, developed in collaboration with the Corning Museum of Glass; the Patio on the Lawn; the Lawn Club Shop, and the Sunset Bar located at Celebrity Solstice’s highest point aft providing breathtaking views in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Hot Glass Show has its own, dedicated glassblowing studio which will present the history and craft of glassblowing. Three resident “gaffers†– highly skilled glassblowing artists – will educate and entertain cruisers with live glassmaking shows, lectures and workshops.
A nine-night fly/cruise onboard Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Solstice starts from £1,228 per person (based on two sharing an inside cabin). Price includes return flights from the UK, transfers, seven-night cruise departing from Fort Lauderdale (Florida) and calling at San Juan (Puerto Rico), Basseterre (St Kitts), Philipsburg (St Maarten) before returning to Fort Lauderdale; meals and entertainment onboard and all relevant fees and taxes. Departures available from 14th December 2008.
