Twelve injured in bomb attack in Germany

A suicide bomber has injured 12 people, three of them seriously, after blowing himself up near a music festival in Ansbach, Germany.

Police say they believe the suspected attacker was a 27-year-old Syrian man who had been denied asylum in Germany.

They say he detonated an explosive device outside a bar after being turned away from the music festival.

More than 2,000 people have been evacuated from the festival, which has been cancelled.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has told British travellers in the area to follow the advice of the local authorities.

Germany is on high alert following the shooting near a shopping centre in Munich on Friday in which nine people died and an attack in Reutlingen on Sunday when a man, believed to be a Syrian refugee, killed a woman and attacked two others with a machete.
