Twin missiles hit popular Turkish holiday region
A Turkish holiday resort region which hosted the ABTA Travel Convention almost exactly four years ago has been hit by two missiles, according to local news reports.
Rockets were fired at a shipping company in Antalya, which is the gateway to Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, said CNNTurk. Other reports suggested a shop had been hit.
The UK Foreign Office said there were other attacks today in Hakkari, Diyarbakir, Van and Adiyaman against military personnel resulting in around 13 injuries.
The report claimed the rockets were fired from a mountainous area at the highway between the city of Antalya and the resort town of Kemer.
There are no reports of any casualties but ambulances and special forces police have been sent to the area, said the report.
The ABTA Convention was held in the resort of Belek, Antalya in 2012. Antalya is also close to the tourist meccas of Marmaris and Bodrum.
