Two ABTA members go bust
Two more ABTA members have gone out of business, making four failures in less than a week.
ABTA announced on Monday that it had called the bond for the Welsh tour operator and travel agent, International Travel Agents Link Ltd, which also traded as World Travel Direct. The bond was called in due to non-payment of subscriptions. ABTA says it is now “treating the former member as a financial failure”.
The second agent that ceased trading on Monday was the Croydon-based operator, Extra Holidays & Travel Ltd.
The recent insolvencies take the total of failing ABTA members to 20 so far this year, which compares to 22 at this time last year and 19 at the same time in 2001. The worst year in history for ABTA agents was 1991 when 120 members went out of business.
Clients who need further assistance should contact the ABTA Claims Department on 020 7307 2041.
