Two charged with travel agent murder
Two men have been charged with the murder of travel agent Michelle Smith in the Thai resort Phuket.
Surasak ”Boy” Suwannachot, 26, and his alleged getaway motorcycle rider, Surin Taptong, 37, who police alleged have confessed to the crime, are also charged with robbery.
Earlier police had posted a 300,000 baht (more than £6000) reward for information leading to the capture of the two men suspected of stabbing the 60-year-old during a bungled bag snatch outside the Katathani Phuket Beach Resort where she was staying with 10 travel agents from Perth, Australia.
A second agent, 42-year-old Tammee Lee, was also injured in the attack.
Security has since been increased at the luxury resort, which is in a quiet part of Phuket (see earlier story).
