Two ‘drunk’ BA stewardesses arrested
Two British Airways air stewardesses have reportedly been arrested after the boarded a plane while they were over the drink limit. According to newspaper reports, the two unnamed women were due to fly from Helsinki, Finland, when they were stopped by Finnish police after a tip-off. BA’s crew are not allowed to consume any alcohol in the eight hours before a flight, and only “moderate consumption” is permitted in the 24 hours before a flight. If the two are found guilty, they could be fined heavily and even face a jail sentence in Finland. The pair were reportedly released after several hours of questioning. A BA spokesman reportedly told the News of The World: “BA operates a zero-tolerance approach to drugs and alcohol. Cabin crew are responsible for vital security checks and procedures in an emergency and have all the passengers in their care. “It is therefore unacceptable for a member of the cabin crew to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during a flight. We have sent a senior cabin crew manager to Finland to investigate.” Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad Ltd
