Two-thirds “unaffected by terror”
At least two thirds of travellers have not changed their travel plans because of the worldwide terror threat, according to a survey.
The Sunday Telegraph reports research by the Airport Operators Association (AOA), showing that 16 per cent of travellers have changed holiday destinations because of security worries, and seven per cent of travellers said they were less likely to go abroad for their holidays.
However, the AOA chief executive Keith Jowett said the figures highlighted the fact that UK travellers were not being put off by the threat of terror.
The Telegraph reports him as saying: “It is clear from this survey that far from being long gone, the spirit that carried us through very tough times during the Second World War is still very much alive and kicking in today’s Britain. We place such a high value on the opportunities we now have to travel to see friends and family and go to faraway places, that we refuse to give in to terror.”
