Two year old drowns in hotel swimming pool

A two-year-old boy has drowned in a hotel swimming pool while on holiday with his family in Tunisia.

Loui Aspinall, from Wigan, Greater Manchester, died after getting into difficulties in the pool the Houda Golf and Beach Resort in Skanes, near Monastir.

The news of his death on September 25 was revealed after holidaymakers recounted the tragedy in reviews of the all-inclusive hotel on TripAdvisor

One witness claimed a lifequard pulled the boy from the water and tried unsuccessfully to revive him.

It said "No one is to blame – however the lifeguard was at the bottom of my bed and he did an amazing job, he remained calm and did exactly the correct procedure for an infant who had drowned – even though he was surrounded by people shouting and screaming at him."

However another review said there were signs around the pool saying no lifeguard on duty.

British police said they wanted to speak to the tourists who posted the reviews online so they can take statements for a full inquest expected next year.

Greater Manchester Police Coroner’s Officer Paul Devine told the Daily Mail: "It is such a tragic accident but accidents can happen anywhere to anybody and it is not something that a hotel or staff can be held responsible for’.
