Uber driver naps while passenger goes on high-speed police chase

A tired Uber driver allowed his passenger to take the wheel while he had a nap, and woke up later in the middle of a high speed police chase.

That decision to hand over the keys has earned Uber driver Corey Robinson a suspension from Uber and passenger Juan Carlos is facing multiple traffic violations.

"I was getting really sleepy and started swerving on the road, so I asked him to drive," Robinson told The New York Post of the 275-mile, five-hour trip from Philadelphia to Herkimer, NY.

Robinson later woke up in the middle of a high-speed police chase after the car was clocked at 86 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Robinson asked him to pull over but Carlos was in no mood to slow down and eventually crashed the car into a guardrail.

Both men were treated for minor injuries while the vehicle was totaled.

Carlos, 20, was charged with third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer, driving without a license and other traffic offenses.

He has been banned from using Uber while official driver Robinson is suspended.

Robinson was released without charge after the crash.
