UK a “stepping stone” into Europe for Australian chain
Australian agency chain Harvey World Travel is to launch in the UK as a stepping stone into Europe.
Former Holiday Hypermarkets founder John Donnelly is to spearhead the expansion by establishing a headquarters in Wolverhampton and developing branches in the Midlands before venturing further south to the London area.
Harvey World Travel chief executive Barry Mayo told Australian newspaper The Age: “Our company strategy has always intended Harvey World Travel to expand into the northern hemisphere and the UK launch is the first building block in establishing a presence in this market.
“We see it as a stepping stone to Europe but we don’t see it as a rapid launch into other markets. We see ourselves being very focussed and concentrating on the UK probably for the initial three to four years.”
Harvey World Travel is acquiring Mr Donnelly’s Midlands-based Travel Factory call centre and affinity business which has an online presence.
