UK not planning to require Covid tests for inbound China travellers

The UK says it has no immediate plans to impose mandatory Covid tests for passengers arriving from China.

China will reopen its borders in January.

Some countries have imposed Covid tests and other restrictions including the US and Japan.

“There are no plans to reintroduce Covid-19 testing or additional requirements for arrivals,” an official said.

The UK Health Security Agency will continue to monitor the situation.

India, Italy, Taiwan, South Korea and Malaysia also placed restrictions.

China travel brands including Trip.com have cited a surge in outbound bookings.
