UK operator sees proof of bountiful summer

A recent surge in late bookings has prompted Superbreak to anticipate a 15% year-on-year growth in UK bookings over the school holidays.

The operator says that over the past two weeks some 60% of the UK bookings taken have been for travel within six weeks.

This suggests that many school holidays breaks have not yet been booked.

Superbreak is currently running a kids-under-16 stay free offer plus free child rail travel when the kids are sharing a family room with two adults, or a 50% reduction when in their own room.

Sales director Ian Mounser said: “Many of the buying public don’t think of their travel agent when considering booking a UK break, or perhaps even didn’t realise that they could book with an agent.”

“However, agents have a great deal to offer for UK family breaks, because of all the pre-bookable extras that can be offered, whether it be tickets to see The Lion King in London, rail travel to say Edinburgh, tickets for Alton Towers or the new Legoland Discovery Centre in Manchester. All such add-ons are fully commissionable.”

Mounser said Superbreak bookings by agents in May and June for Legoland Windsor having more than doubled year on year.

He added: “Great choices for agents are locations that offer a combination of paid for and free entry attractions, providing even better value for families. For example, York, where perhaps The Jorvik Viking Centre and York Dungeons can be pre-booked and paid for as part of the break, but attractions such as the National Railway Museum and the City Walls walk can be done free.”
