UK sets up India reception centre to assist air crash families
The UK foreign office has set up a ‘reception centre’ in Ahmedabad to assist local family members of the 52 British nationals who died in the Air India crash.
The High Commission is offering support and advice to families and friends at the Ummed Hotel.
It is open daily until 9pm.
The London Gatwick-bound flight was carrying 242 passengers and crew.
A British man was the sole survivor of the crash.
“The UK has set up a Reception Centre in the Ummed Hotel to provide support and advice for the families and friends of British nationals,” the British High Commission said in a X post.
British High Commissioner to India, Lindy Cameron, says she has met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
She said the UK and India are ‘working together’ to establish the cause of the crash.
