The ongoing dispute between cabin crew and British Airways and its impact on the planned merger with Iberia is being discussed by union in Madrid.
A delegation including officials from the Unite union and the International Transport Workers’ Federation is to meet leaders from the transport federations of Spain’s biggest unions, UGT and CC.OO.
Between them, UGT and CC.OO members represent 68% of the Iberia workforce.
Graham Stevenson, national organiser for transport at Unite and a member of the ITF’s executive board, together with ITF civil aviation secretary Gabriel Mocho, are attending the meeting in the Spanish capital today (Wednesday).
Unite members have staged two walk-outs as part of a dispute with BA over working practices and conditions.
The ITF did not indicate what would be discussed at the gathering.
