United adds more flights to Ecuador

United Airlines is expanding flights to Quito, Ecuador from Houston over the Christmas holiday season to meet demand to one of South America’s fasting growing destinations.

Two extra weekend flights will operate from December 18, 2015 through January 10, 2016 in support of the existing daily non-stop service using 118-seat Boeing 737-700 aircraft.

The rising demand for business travel and vacations to Ecuador is in direct response to Ecuador’s heavy investment in promotional activities in US markets, including nationwide travel trade road shows and even a Super Bowl half-time TV commercial.

"There is a direct correlation between promoting the country and increase in demand. The more we put Ecuador on the map, the more people will want to visit," said Paulina Andrade, director of connectivity for Ecuador’s ministry of tourism (MINTUR).

United Airlines has been operating flights to Ecuador since 1992, and is currently seeing big demand for vacation travel, says Bettina Carvajal, general manager for United in Ecuador.

"We are pleased to contribute to Ecuador’s connectivity with the US, Asian, and European markets by offering additional flights as demand to Ecuador increases," Carvajal said.
