United Airlines CEO under pressure to resign
A petition calling for the resignation of United Airlines’ CEO Jeff Smisek has been posted online following the carrier’s plan to outsource 2000 jobs at 28 airports.
A group of active and retired employees of United, calling themselves ‘Our UnitedRetired’ is behind the Change.org petition.
The group described the outsourcing of jobs as ‘a cancer that must be stopped’.
United has informed 2000 workers at 28 airports are being reviewed and may be handed to outside contractors instead.
Jobs under threat include baggage handlers and gate service agents.
