United Airlines downgrades Hong Kong routes
United Airlines is the latest carrier to tweak flight schedules due to the dowturn in passenger traffic to Hong Kong.
The airline had already announced the suspension of its Chicago-Hong Kong route, and will now downgrade all their flights to Hong Kong.
United’s Newark flight will be downgraded from a Boeing 777-300ER to a 777-200ER, without the Polaris premium service, from December 3, 2019 through March 27, 2020.
From December 4, 2019 United will downgrade San Francisco flights, operating 777-200 without Polaris service.
However it is still committed to operating a second daily San Francisco flight.
Cathay Pacific has been the hardest hit by Hong Kong’s political situation, and has similarly downgraded flights to North America.
Cathay’s inbound traffic to Hong Kong has dropped by more than one-third.
