United clears up bizarre story of pilot’s broken leg
United Airlines has denied bizarre media reports that a flight from London to San Francisco was forced to divert to New York after a pilot broke their leg onboard.
Users of the social media site Twitter reported that a pilot on flight UA900 from Heathrow had sustained the injury, apparently during the transatlantic crossing, cauisng the plane to land in Newark.
Users were intrigued to know how he or she had managed to do such a thing in the confines of the cockpit.
However, the US airline claimed this evening the pilot had been injured in London prior to the flight.
It said the carrier was forced to land in New York as, due to the pilot’s injury, it didn’t have enough crew to fly all the way to San Francisco.
A spokesman refused to say how the pilot was injured, saying it was a personal matter.
So that clears that up then.
